Onion Juice Is OMGtastic For Your Roots

simple-onion-mask-hair-growthOnion lends great taste and flavour to everyday dishes, but did you know that when applied topically, it can lead to hair growth and prevent hair loss? One study from the Journal of Dermatology found that after 4 weeks of using onion juice, 74% of individuals with ‘alopecia areata’ experienced significant hair re-growth, and within 6 weeks of using onion juice, 84% of the individuals were reported to have hair re-growth.
You can try some of these onion hair packs to regain strength and shine in your hair. If you’re suffering from excessive hair loss or baldness, applying these packs will noticeably improve hair growth in a few months.

Benefits of Onion for Hair Growth

.Stimulates blood circulation and fastens hair growth.
.Helps prevent premature graying of hair
.Onion contains sulphur which is an excellent tonic for hair thinning.
.Regular application of onion helps thicken hair by improving its volume.
.Onion is a natural cure to treat hereditary hair loss.
.Several research-studies conducted on hair fall have established that onions contain great healing properties, effective in treating conditions such as androgenic alopecia or female pattern baldness.
.Onions are helpful in controlling hair problems like dandruff
.The antibacterial properties of onion aid in treating, several scalp and hair infections caused by fungi and yeast.

Preparing Onion Juice

1. Food processor or Blender: Peel onions and cut them into four sections. Blend them evenly in the blender. Remove and strain through a fine sieve.

2. Grater: Cut onion into two halves. Grate both these halves over a plate. When done, strain out the juice from the grated onion, using the back of a spoon.

3. Cloth method: Collect the outer peels of the onions (try using the one’s discarded while cutting vegetables) and blend them. Put them in a muslin cloth or a thin cotton cloth and squeeze it directly on the hair or in to a bowl if you’re mixing it with some other ingredient for your mask.

DIY Onion Hair Masks

You will need to keep the onion masks on your scalp for at least 30 minutes or longer to achieve desired results. Some people may find the smell offensive, so you can rinse the hair off using a mild shampoo with rose water. Repeat the remedies at least thrice a week for best results.
Note: Before applying onion juice, test it on a small area to ensure that you are not allergic. Onion juice applied topically is said to give your hair a nice coppery shade. But, if you want to maintain the natural colour of your hair, mix onion juice with 1-2 tsp of mustard oil. The oil will prevent the color lightening caused by onions.

Hair Masks

1. Onion-Honey Mixture: Mix ¼ cup of onion juice with 1 tbsp. of honey and apply the mix on the scalp. Massage it for 15 minutes every day. Alternatively, you can also consume it orally, every day.

2. Onion-Rum Mask: Finely chop one medium sized onion and soak this in a glass of rum overnight. Strain the mixture, the next day to remove the onion pieces. Use the concoction to massage the scalp or use it as a hair rinse after washing the hair.

3. Onion Juice Hair Rinse: Add 4-5 chopped onion to 1 litre of water and boil it for about 10 minutes. Allow the mixture to cool and strain the mixture.

4. Regular Mask: Try applying onion juice every day on your hair directly for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it off.

5. Onion-Garlic Mask: Crush garlic and extract juice. Add this to the onion juice and massage it in your scalp. Leave it on for 30 min before rinsing it off.

6. Onion-Gooseberry Mask: Gooseberry or ‘amla’ is a very powerful remedy for hair loss and hair re-growth. You can powder dried amla or soak dry amlas in any oil of your choice and mash them to form a paste. You can add amla powder or paste with onion juice to your hair once a week for 30 minutes-1 hour to see amazing results.

Conclusion

Since this is a natural remedy, you will have to stick with it diligently for at least 2 months to see definitive results. To boost hair growth, you can also massage your hair and scalp with a mixture of olive oil, coconut oil and almond oil once a week, ideally leaving it overnight. Also, don’t forget to include onions and other fruits and vegetables as a part of a healthy hair diet.

OMG! Eat Your Way To Firmness

Food for skin blogDimples can be cute, but not when they’re on your butt and thighs! Since there’s no one signular solution to melt the extra fat away, we asked diet experts to share their top nutrition tips that work wonders to reduce the appearance of uneven texture. Get on the fast track to smoothness today, starting with these eight simple eating solutions.

1. Eat On Schedule.Sticking to a regular daily pattern trains your brain when to expect food and when not to, so you’re less likely to nosh between meals. Its those unplanned snacks that tend to trip you up because they’re often high-calorie or high-sugar foods.

2. Slow Down On White Flour. At least two studies have found that people who eat the most whole grains have less belly fat than those who eat fewer complex carbs. With the variety of whole-grain products on store shelves today, it’s easier than ever to snub the refined stuff. The higher fiber content in whole wheat bread and pasta keeps you feeling full longer, so you won’t have to contend with a rumbling belly.

3.  Be Fat Friendly.  It may sound counterintuitive, but trust us: To lose fat, you have to get over your fat phobia. Healthy fats, like nuts, seeds, avocado, and olive oil, can actually help with weight loss (and cellulite). They provide flavor, texture and a feeling of satisfaction, all things you need if you want to stick to a healthy eating plan. Just use them as condiments, not the main attraction. Spread a tablespoon of mashed avocado on to a sandwich for lunch or toss a teaspoon of sunflower seeds with veggies at dinner.

4. Why Not Go Vegetarian One Day A Week.  A recent study in the International Journal of Obesity found that people who ate the most meat were about 27 percent more likely to be obese and 33 percent more likely to have abdominal obesity (dangerous fat that accumulates around your organs in your midsection and increases your risk of heart disease) than people who ate the least amount of meat. They also consumed about 700 more calories per day, on average.

5. “Cheat” the Right Way. The concept of a cheat day is weight-loss staple, but its also the Achilles’ heel of many eating plans. A day of eating whatever you want can add up to thousands of extra calories. It can also make it harder to get back on track the next day, when your brain has a chocolate cake hangover. Instead of splurging for an entire da, limit yourself to just one cheat meal each week. Plan it, enjoy it, and as long as it happens just once a week you wont break the calorie bank.

Weekend Detox for that Special Day: 4th July Cookout Time!!!

COOKOUT TIME IS NEAR ~ out of town guests, food menu to prepare, house to clean…OMG MOMENT OVERLOAD. Don’t stress~we will help  you get over this issue and have you looking great doing it. You can improve your skin with a simple weekend detox—and it doesn’t involve fasting, purging, or a complete rearrangement of your life. There are some quick and easy methods like massages and facials that flush out waste and toxins. Follow our step-by-step routine and wake up Monday morning with a fresh, radiant complexion.

FRIDAY EVENING
Clear the clutter. Simply straightening up the junk on your coffee table or doing a load of laundry will prepare you for the inner cleansing to come.
Stock the fridge. During your weekend detox, you want to fill your body with healthy foods such as fresh fruits (cranberries, apples, and grapes) and vegetables (look for broccoli, carrots, and sweet potatoes)—their antioxidants help repair, and prevent, damage to your skin—and lean protein (chicken, turkey, and tofu). Avoid alcohol, tobacco, and all refined and processed foods.
Purge your products. When your skin acts up, the last thing you want to do is slather on various of concoctions and serums. The same goes for a detox. To give your skin time to rebalance, put away everything except your cleanser (Splash of Evny Herbal Wash), day lotion (OMG vs UV lotion), and night cream (OMGX3=NIGHT CREAM ).

SATURDAY MORNING
Drink warm tea.
Look for blends that include nettle, ginger, or burdock, dandelion, or sarsaparilla root—herbs and flowers known to calm inflammation and improve liver and kidney function. “These teas help eliminate puffiness around the eyes and decongest your skin. If you need a caffeine hit, try green tea: It has less of the stimulant and lots of antioxidants.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON
Give yourself a massage. “Encourage the elimination of waste by manually moving lymph through the lymphatic system. Concentrate on massaging the neck, armpits, stomach, groin, and behind the knees—areas where there are a lot of lymph nodes.

SATURDAY EVENING
Fake a facial at home. Pour hot water into a small bowl and add a few drops of a citrus essential oil. Soak a hand towel in the water, then wring out and drape over your face. Lie down for ten minutes and let the steam open your pores, prepping your skin for the detoxifying mask that follows. Look for masks made with clay, which absorbs excess oil and pulls toxins and impurities out, while adding in necessary minerals.

SUNDAY MORNING
Scrub your body.
Wake up your senses with a sloughing session in the shower. Exfoliate with a product that contains sunflower seed shells to remove dead, dulling skin cells, boost circulation, and pump toxins from the body (Sun-Tower Scrub).

SUNDAY AFTERNOON
Sweat it out. Light exercise—a brisk walk, jumping rope, yoga—helps eliminate toxins from your body. The deep breathing of yoga stimulates the lymphatic system. It also brings cleansing oxygen into the body with each inhale, and expels waste on each exhale. Try sun salutations, which nurture as well as detoxify, or twisting poses to activate the digestive system.

SUNDAY EVENING
Apply a mask. At the end of your detox, you’ll want to nourish and calm your complexion. Spread a few tablespoons of raw honey over your face. Next, apply cucumber slices on top of the honey then lie down. Cover your face with a warm, damp washcloth to allow the honey, a natural humectant, to seal in moisture. Honey’s anti–inflammatory properties also help reduce irritation and redness. Cucumbers, which act as diuretics, will further flush out excess fluid and relieve any remaining puffiness. Or to go OMG style try our Beta-Like-Avocado Masque which contains carrot powder, great for vitamin and mineral absorption as well as promotes cell rejuvenation.

Soon as you know it, the big day is around the corner  but OMG GUESS WHAT – you are relaxed, looking great and feeling OMGtastic. Have a awesome holiday weekend!  (Spa Magazine)
