First let’s give you the real 411 on what actually is detox and the purpose it serves to get you to be an OMG Perfect 10 in 2010. Chemicals in the foods we eat such as artificial coloring, artificial flavorings, preservatives, synthetic foods, genetically engineered foods, salt and sugar are only few of the chemicals we ingest each day through the foods we eat. Our bodies do not digest or eliminate these chemicals, so they accumulate in our fluids and tissues resulting in feeling less active leading to low immunity (colds/flu).**Some think this is signs of old age WHEN ACTUALLY THIS IS TOXIFICATION.   • Snack – 4 cherries 1/4 cup sunflower seeds, 1cup fresh fruit or veggie juice and 8oz of water
  • Dinner – Stir Fry: 1 cup of Tofu or 3oz of sirloin and 4 shrimp, 1/4 cup snow peas, 4 baby carrots, 1 celery stalk, 2tbspn of light soy sauce, 1tbspn olive oil, 2tbspn sesame seeds and 1 cup of fat free soy milk

For those of you who are ready to go to the extreme with lower calories try the snack method…OMG has a couple of options for you to be a  OMG Perfect 10.**Consume at least 4 to 6 of these 300 calorie snacks a day.

  • Smoothie made from 1 cup of vanilla soy milk, 1 cup of frozen raspberries and 1 tspn of omega 3 oil
  • 1 cup of vegetarian lentil soup with 1/5 chopped avocado and 1 tbsp of sliced almonds
  • 1 medium sliced pear served with 2 tbsps natural peanut butter for dipping
  • 2 sliced plum tomatoes, sprinkled with 2 tspns vinaigrette dressing and 1/4 cup feta cheese. Serve with 1/2 cup cooked wild rice and 4 large grilled or broiled shrimp
  • 1 Laughing Cow Mini Babybel cheese, 1 cup of seedless grapes, 1 0z of almonds
  • 1 sliced apple with 2 tbsps natural apple butter
  • 1/3 cup of peanuts, 4 baby carrots
  • 1 cup of fresh squeezed fruit or veggie juice with 1/4 cup of pumpkin seeds

Everyone is interested in DOUBLE D’S when it comes to a diet plan especially detox. Well OMG has some pretty good suggestions when it comes to DRINKS/JUICE AND DESSERTS. An abundance of fresh raw juices will help the body release toxins leaving you energized and healthy. You will begin to see an improvement in your hair and your skin. Many people follow juice therapy strongly have reported an increase in flexibility, less colds and even improvement in eyesight. Here are just a few to assist you on this journey.

Add 1/4 cup of sugar and stir until dissolved. Let chill for an hour at least and then add 1 cup of club soda THIS IS ONLY 151 CALORIES AND SERVES 6

As for desserts…this is the best part of the detox, guilt free, nutritious and continually serving the purpose of cleaning out toxins.   • Tofurella Cheesecake: consist of a enticing granola crust with rice bran syrup and filled with almond butter, cinnamon and nondairy cheese substitute

  • Apricot pie: composed of dried apricots, raisins and a pinch of psyllium seed husk

In addition to eating a diet rich in organic foods, it’s also essential to incorporate certain herbs and supplements into the detox diet and juice fast.   • don quai – Corrects female problems, regulates blood  pressure, cleans liver and blood.
  • evening primrose oil – For weight loss, high blood pressure, eczema, hot flashes, multiple sclerosis, arthritis, alcoholism.
  • fennel – help kill appetite, aids digestion.
  • gota-kula – Used for mental imbalance and promotes longevity; strengthens the heart, memory and brain.
  • kelp – Cleanses radiation from body.
  • slippery elm –  Used for inflamed mucous membranes of the stomach, bowels, kidneys.

Here are some great teas that are excellent incorporate into your detox routine.

  • Peach leaf tea will eliminate pain and discomfort and heal the entire urinary. OMG Peach Leaf Tea: 1 quart water, 4tsp. dry crushed peach leaves, 2 garlic cloves./Stir the peach leaves into the water. Cover and simmer for 10 to 15 minutes; strain and drink a cup four times daily. Garlic may be  simmered with the leaves.
  • Garlic is the strongest natural antibiotic or bacteriologic. It is a digestive stimulant, an intestinal antiseptic, and a glandular. it is a good source of iodine and thus beneficial for hypothyroid. OMG Garlic Tea: 2 large bulbs (not cloves) of raw garlic, pinch cayenne (optional), tomato juice (optional) /Cut garlic crosswise into a quart and a half of water. Cook until tender.   • Asparagus Tea and Nettle Tea during a fast, it’s important to also support the kidneys. The kidneys and the GI Tract are the organs that eliminate the toxins in the body. These two teas have a diuretic affect, enabling the kidneys and GI Tract perform their functions.
  • Chamomile Tea Bulk (Triple Leaf Tea Brand) – helps in digestion of the body. It also helps calm the nerves and promotes a good night’s rest. A good time to drink this tea is after dinner, to help relax you before retiring to bed for the night.
